Celebrations
Though the Mewar Festival spans one day, it is highly significant both in terms of religion and culture. Men and women can be seen dressed in their traditional costumes moving in a procession that advances to Lake Pichola.

First of all, people dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and decorate them with jewellery. Now, the images are taken out in procession. More and more people continue to join in as the procession takes its course through the lanes of the city. Women and children can also be seen sitting on the roofs to have a glimpse of the gods and make offerings. The procession advances with all sanctity. On arrival at Lake Pichola, the images of Isar and Gangaur are transferred to special boats on the lakes. This is performed amid much singing and celebration. The effect is so intense that even the most jaded traveller can be stirred at the sight. A cultural aura surrounds the whole activity.
